23 February 2007 Greg Johnson (NRCS) sometime ago completed a master processing of the adjusted wind database based on the TD-6421 dataset. There are 361 (mostly) first class stations (lower 48 states) in this unique dataset. Some of the parameters include: Velocity (speeds) are in m/s not mph. speed_avg speed_max dir_max speed max hour u_avg (east-west) component v_avg (north-south) component u_abs max v_abs max u_max speed v_max speed u_avg speed v_avg speed U3 V3 running avg max speed 3 direction max max hour 3 plus an assortment of other statistics (all in XECEL spreadsheets). The 667 files contained in these folders are daily wind averages from 1961-1990 based on hourly observations. I hope that you can make use of this climatology.
